Julian Araujo is still promoting his Celtic colours after missing out on the World Cup with Mexico.
Araujo’s enjoyable loan in Glasgow was cut short by a quad injury. In the end, he made just 13 appearances for the Hoops.
This was still enough to establish him as a fan-favourite, and his contributions — especially that last-minute winner against Kilmarnock — ensured that he will be remembered fondly.
His chunky salary at Bournemouth could be an obstacle to a return to Celtic, though this week, reports said that Araujo is ‘seduced’ by a potential move to Cruz Azul.
Should Celtic sign Julian Araujo permanently this summer?

His choice of shirt is telling.

He’s certainly been spreading the word about Celtic, with Araujo’s cousin hinting at a permanent Celtic stay after his final appearance for the club a few months back.
The same cousin later returned to Glasgow for the Scottish Cup final, though Araujo was in Mexico City in a late bid for fitness at this summer’s tournament.
It will doubtless have been a weekend of celebration for Araujo after his nation got off to the perfect start with a 2-0 win over South Africa at Estadio Azteca.
Upon his confirmation that he wouldn’t play for the Hoops again, Araujo said: “I don’t have all the answers right now, but I trust that everything happens for a reason and that God is guiding every step of this journey.
“I’m truly grateful to Celtic Football Club for welcoming me from day one and making Glasgow feel like home.
“Wearing this badge and experiencing the passion, history, and energy of this club is something I’ll carry with me forever.
“To my teammates and coaches – thank you for everything we shared this season.”
🙌 Oh continues his post-Celtic rise with a World Cup winner for South Korea!
The career of Celtic’s Julian Araujo
Araujo made over 100 appearances for LA Galaxy, mostly as a teenager, earning himself a move to Barcelona which almost fell through when the transfer was signed off 14 seconds after the deadline.
The Catalan giants lodged a successful appeal, but Araujo never made a competitive appearance for the club, spending time on loan at Las Palmas in the 2023-24 season.
This led Bournemouth to sign him for €10million, and after a patchy first season, he fell out of favour during this campaign, leading to his loan to Glasgow.
Born and raised in the United States, he represented the USA at five different age levels before appearing in a friendly in 2020. However, he made the decision to switch to Mexico a year later, earning 16 caps since.
