Kairat Almaty’s Valery Gromyko is hoping to take inspiration from his side’s famous win against Celtic into the international break.
Celtic were dumped out of the Champions League after Kairat beat them on penalties to qualify for the main phase of the competition for the first time in their history.
The side from Kazakhstan have lost both of their games so far, but the victory against the Hoops will be remembered forever.
Now, Gromyko is hoping to do the same again against Scotland.
Valery Gromyko hoping to cause Scotland upset
Gromyko was a big part of Kairat’s success across the two legs and he will return to Glasgow next weekend, this time with Belarus.
Scotland’s hopes of qualifying for the World Cup hang in the balance, and the Kairat star hopes to derail their campaign with a shock win.
“Scotland and Denmark are both good teams,” he explained. “We need a miracle to beat them, but it’s football and footballing miracles can happen.
“We had a miracle when Kairat beat Celtic, so why not?
“I’d love to see our national team do the same thing that Kairat managed to do and shock the world.”

How have Kairat Almaty performed since Celtic win?
Like Celtic, Kairat are also winless in both European games since their famous night in Almaty.
They were hammered by Sporting CP and Real Madrid while in the league, they remain in a title race with Astana.
They’re currently one point behind the league leaders, but have played a game less, which puts them in the driving seat to reclaim top spot and win the league.
