Celtic’s search for more firepower goes on.
After the arrival of Camilo Duran, Martin O’Neill was hoping that Celtic would strike a deal with Kelechi Iheanacho, but that has fallen through.
Now, Kasper Høgh and Kyogo Furuhashi have re-emerged on Celtic’s transfer radar.
It has been reported that Celtic have rekindled their interest in Bodo/Glimt striker Høgh, while the Daily Record cite sources in Japan suggesting that Kyogo has his heart set on a return to Parkhead.
Given the news around Iheanacho, and how Celtic have well and truly messed that up, this is the club’s chance to showcase what they are truly made of.

If Celtic sign Kasper Høgh, the critics will shut up…
Yes, right now, there is an air of frustration amongst the Celtic fans. That was illustrated by the fact that there were many empty seats for the pre-season friendly against Middlesbrough.
But many have already seen the positive impact Duran has made in Glasgow. Two goals in two pre-season matches, alongside high praise from O’Neill and Forrest.
Duran netted five goals in the Champions League last season, while Høgh also enjoyed himself in the colours of Bodo/Glimt.
The 25-year-old also scored five goals, helping Bodo create history by reaching the last 16 for the first time in their history, including goals against Manchester City, Atletico, Inter and Sporting.
If the powers that be can pull this off, it would shut up all the moaning and groaning from the fanbase because it would be a statement signing.
This is what Brendan Rodgers wanted. Proven players at the European level, and Høgh certainly is that.
But if Celtic re-sign Kyogo Furuhashi…
Make no bones about it, Kyogo is a Celtic legend, but he has fallen off a cliff since leaving Parkhead during the January transfer window of 2025.
The Japan star only lasted six months in Rennes, and he has only scored three goals for Birmingham City after a £10 million transfer last summer.
If Celtic opt to go down the road of bringing Kyogo back to Glasgow rather than the ambitious move for Høgh, it will sum up the mindset of the club.
History suggests that it will be Kyogo.
If it is, then if you thought last season’s mess was bad, well, it’s only going to get much, much worse.
