Kasper Schmeichel has been an inspired signing for Celtic and the veteran Denmark international has continued his recent excellence while in action for his country.
The 38-year-old has proved to be more than an adequate replacement for Joe Hart, keeping 11 clean sheets in 18 appearances across all competitions.
In Denmark’s final Nations League group match last night, Schmeichel put in a man-of-the-match performance against Serbia as his side claimed a 0-0 draw to finish above their rivals in the table.

Despite coming under sustained pressure, Brian Riemer’s men are through to the quarter-finals of the competition as they continue their resurgence after a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign.
Schmeichel continues to be a rock for Denmark despite uncertainty over his international position before the break, and he has now reacted to helping his nation make history.
Kasper Schmeichel’s brilliant Instagram message
Taking to Instagram, Schmeichel shared his delight after helping Denmark qualify for the last eight of the Nations League, thanking supporters for their backing across the campaign.
Via translation, his selection of images was accompanied with the caption: “Great to end the national team year with qualification for the Nations League quarter-finals. Thank you for your support throughout the year – see you in 2025.”
Hopefully, the Celtic star will still be in contention once the knockout phase of the competition once it begins in March 2025.
Mads Hermansen is pushing Schmeichel for a place in the starting line-up, but he appears to have once again cemented himself as number one after claiming his 108th and 109th caps during the break.
Kasper Schmeichel will be ready for Tynecastle on Saturday
Off the back of Denmark’s historical Nations League qualification, Schmeichel will have the bit between his teeth when the Bhoys face Heart of Midlothian on Saturday at Tynecastle.
Having played in plenty of high-profile matches during his illustrious career, the Dane won’t be fazed by the prospect of a trip to the capital as his sole focus lies on further clean sheets.
Nevertheless, Schmeichel is an elite professional, so expect him to be on his guard as the Bhoys look to wheel away on Saturday with their lead at the top of the table still intact.
