New Celtic signing, Kasper Schmeichel, has been taking on media duties ahead of Celtic’s game against Manchester City.

In what was an official unveiling of the new Celtic goalkeeper, Schmeichel looked calm and relaxed beside Brendan Rodgers as he fielded questions about his arrival at Paradise.

As well as mentioning what his biggest challenge will be at Celtic, the Denmark international ‘keeper has also shared what his new teammates have been doing to help him settle in at the club.

Schmeichel: Celtic teammates ‘made it really easy’

Now at the club for almost a week, Schmeichel has had the chance to get to know his new teammates. And whilst he says he is ‘lucky’ to have worked with Brendan Rodgers before, the big Dane has found getting to the Celtic players ‘really easy’.

Schmeichel said [Celtic YouTube], “To be fair they’ve made it really, really easy to integrate. I’ve been here a couple of days now and we’ve had some travelling and I’ve tried to integrate myself into the team.

“And, to be fair, football players we’re quite easy to get along with usually.

“We enjoy the same kind of things, we have some games on the bus that we play and I get myself involved in that.

“But from the footballing point of view, I’m lucky that I’ve worked with the boss before and I know his style, his principles so it’s not completely foreign to me.”

Schmeichel is likely to make his debut in the US Tour friendly against Manchester City tonight. Facing his old club, the 37-year-old will most likely mark this down as a special occasion.

Schmeichel started his professional career at City in 2006 and made just 10 appearances for the Premier League as he was loaned out for much of his time at the club.

Joining Leicester City in 2011, Schmeichel teamed up with Rodgers in 2019 to win an FA Cup and Community Shield during the Celtic manager’s time at The Foxes.

Now at Celtic, the Danish international will be hoping to add to his medal haul next season and will want to start off his Parkhead career with a win against Pep Guardiola’s side tonight.
