It feels like there is a new superstar in town at Celtic.

On Sunday, Celtic beat Partick Thistle 4-0 to easily book their Scottish League Cup semi-final ticket at Hampden, with Sebastian Tounekti winning Man of the Match.

For the second week running, Celtic’s 2025 summer transfer window signing has picked up the main individual prize, and he has brought an air of excitement to the champions of Scotland.

Also, for the first time at Firhill, fans got to see Kieran Tierney on the same flank as Tounekti, and something seems to be brewing.

When Tierney returned to Celtic this summer, supporters would have been looking forward to his partnership with Jota or Daizen Maeda.

But instead, there could be something with Tounekti, as the returning Celtic fan told Premier Sports, ‘it feels like he has been here for ages.’

Tierney noted the Tunisian star’s ‘unbelievable’ debut performance at Rugby Park, and how he has ‘settled in straight away.’

“It feels like he has been here for ages,” said Tierney. “The debut last week at Killie was unbelievable. That’s a tough place to go and tough conditions.

“You have seen how well he has settled in. He has settled in straight away. It’s a credit to him, how he has adapted, but also the changing room as well.”

What Tierney has told Tounekti

Celtic face Rangers in the semi-final of the League Cup, a repeat of last season’s showpiece event, which Scotland’s most successful club won on penalties.

Tierney understands and knows all about what is expected at Celtic, and that message is also being put across to the new players in the building.

Connie McLaughlin: “You said beforehand, not many of you guys have told him about the Premier Sports Cup is going to Hampden. You are going to need to do that now.”

Tierney: “Aye, it’s Celtic, that’s what you need to do. You need to get to the semi-finals. Finals. Win trophies.

“He knows that coming here as well. You can see how up for it he is. Even today, it’s the first time I have started with him, and it was a joy to play with him as well.”
