Celtic’s late win at St Mirren has broken Rangers fans on social media.

With just seconds to go, Callum McGregor’s rocket sealed Celtic’s win at St Mirren to keep the gap to Rangers at the top of the league to five points.

McGregor’s Celtic goal also closed the gap to Hearts to just four points with a game in hand but it was the Rangers fans’ reaction to the win that was most pleasing.

Taking to X, Rangers fans are claiming that Celtic received a helping hand from the SFA officiating after Liam Scales’ own goal was ruled out for offside.

Celtic hero Chris Sutton clamped Stephen Robinson’s take on the decision and now, Kris Boyd does the same as he tells the Rangers fans exactly why the referees and VAR officials were correct to rule the St Mirren goal out.

St Mirren disallowed goal vs Celtic is ‘correct decision’

Rangers fans were quick to jump in on social media to claim that the ‘game is rigged’ after Stephen Robinson moaned about the disallowed goal vs Celtic.

Here is a classic example of what is rife online right now:

There are many, many posts like this and in one fell swoop, Boyd dismantled this narrative.

Boyd told Sky Sports Scotland, “Listen, that is a correct decision. There is no doubt, Liam Scales, as soon as his body is in front of Mandron’s, he’s going to shield that back to Kasper Schmeichel. He’s an international defender.

“You look here, as soon as his body is in there, he’s getting a great position there to shield Mandron and hope that Kasper Schmeichel comes and gets it. He then catches sight of McMenamin, and that’s when the leg comes out and pokes it past the goalkeeper.

“There’s no doubt about it. You can see there all of a sudden, I need to flick this away, I need to try my best, because I’m not sure.

“There’s no need for people saying they have to go to VAR. He doesn’t need to go to VAR because the flag’s up on the pitch. So that’s the correct decision.”

What St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson said about disallowed goal vs Celtic

The St Mirren boss didn’t help matters as he cried about the goal as Robinson claimed that the officials will come up with some ‘reason for disallowing it’.

Robinson bitterly said, “We had a goal disallowed that, again, they will probably make some sort of reason up as to why to justify it.

“Conor McMenamin is not in line with the goalkeeper. He doesn’t touch the defender, and the defender doesn’t see him. He has his eyes on Jonah Ayunga, so that has to be a subjective decision from the referee to make: ‘Is he actually interfering with play?’ And he isn’t even called over for that.

“That’s hard to take. That’s four goals in four games disallowed. There will, no doubt, be some sort of phrase made up to justify their reason for disallowing it, and the referee not being called up to the monitor.”
