Kris Boyd right to dismiss Celtic advantage claims from Hearts and Rangers fans

The release of the post-split fixture list has brought a predictable wave of paranoia from Hearts and Rangers supporters.

With Celtic playing Hearts on the final day of the season, and Rangers taking on the Premiership leaders on Bank Holiday Monday at 17:30, rival fans and pundits have been quick to cry foul over how this has favoured the Hoops.

But amazingly enough, the individual who has spoken the most sense is former Rangers striker, Kris Boyd, as he rightly dismissed those complaints on The Warm-Up.

“If there are people out there moaning about the fixtures,” said Boyd. “I mean, especially TV kick-off times and everything.

“Surely, you would want to be on the TV. You would want to be in a title race. Who really cares?”

Ally McCoist has already moaned at the SPFL seemingly favouring Celtic, whilst Hearts-mad and pundit Ewen Cameron has lost his mind on social media that his team have to go to Parkhead on the last day of the season.

Kris Boyd defends post-split fixtures

You have to question, have these people not watched what has unfolded this season? First of all, Celtic have been playing last for large parts of the campaign. Where were the complaints then?

This very same team has also been beaten by Rangers and Hearts at home this term.

And as Boyd stated, the reason why Hearts and Rangers are playing on a Bank Holiday Monday at 17:30 is because of Sky Sports’ scheduling and the fact that you are in a title race.

Hearts and Rangers, if they wished, could easily go back to watching Celtic lift title after title with ease, as they have done for nearly two decades now.

Or they can push a declining Celtic team over the edge, and earn their stripes if they want to become champions of Scotland.

“I think when you listen to Celtic fans saying, ‘We have Hearts and Rangers at home’,” said Boyd. “I mean, they haven’t beaten either of the two of them this season.

“There is nothing to suggest, as Chris (Sutton) touched on there, that Celtic is a foregone conclusion; they are going to win these games of football as well. There will be loads of twists and turns.
