Former Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer will ‘definitely’ be watching Sunday’s Scottish League Cup final and says he is not surprised by all the success coming during Ange Postecoglou’s reign.
Ajer was only at the Bhoys for a matter of weeks while Postecoglou was also in place but the Norwegian was left impressed nonetheless by what the Australian was offering the club.
And speaking ahead of a huge weekend, Ajer also revealed he can’t stop saying good things about the Bhoys to his Brentford teammates.

Ajer “absolutely loved” playing for Celtic
Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, the defender said: “I watch almost every game so a Cup final on Sunday with Celtic and Rangers I will definitely be watching. I’m not surprised at all. I only had three weeks with Ange but I could tell already by then that he would be a massive success. The way Celtic are playing, the way Callum [McGregor] is leading, I’m so happy for him as well.
“He’s one of the most hard-working players I’ve ever met so he deserves everything he’s getting now. Everyone is just performing, they had some players that’s been there a long time and they had some players that really gets what it means to play for Celtic so I’m just very happy for everyone.
“The guys here at the training ground are sick of hearing me talking fondly about my time at Celtic. I absolutely loved it. It was five amazing years. I came as an 18-year-old boy. I was very insecure and didn’t speak any English. I signed as a No10, developed well, learned so much from so many spectacular players and good managers. To win nine trophies was amazing for such a massive club.”
Ajer has played 38 times for Brentford since moving last summer. Just ten appearances have come this season as the defender battles through some injury and fitness issues.
Remarkably, he is still just 24, so he has plenty of time to build on his initial Premier League experience and progress his career.
Brentford are in a pretty stable situation at the moment, well clear of any relegation drama and even making a push into the top half of the table.
It’s great to hear Ajer speak so positively about the club and that we’ll have his support on Sunday for the big one!
