Celtic fans will be eager for their side to book a safe passage through to the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final when they face Hibernian in the second round this weekend.
Pencilled in for this Sunday at 3 pm, the meeting will produce the second instalment of both sides playing each other back-to-back following the Bhoys’ victory at Easter Road last Sunday.
As a precaution, Kyogo Furuhashi was substituted in the capital with 15 minutes left to play. Mikey Johnston came on to replace him, but ended up being withdrawn himself due to a facial blow.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed the Japan international was taken off due to his ongoing shoulder problem, stating post-match: “He had an issue with his shoulder. Obviously the guys have tried to put it back in but he’s felt the pain. So we didn’t want to risk that, so hopefully he’ll be okay in next couple of days.”
With cup action edging closer, a fresh update has emerged on his availability this weekend as supporters await the manager’s press conference ahead of the clash.
Kyogo Furuhashi injury latest
According to The Daily Record, Furuhashi is a doubt for this weekend’s cup meeting against Hibernian after missing training this morning.
In light of this, Adam Idah could now potentially be permitted to start against David Gray’s men on Sunday, fresh from joining Celtic permanently for a fee of £9.5 million inclusive of add-ons.

Seemingly, the arrival of the Republic of Ireland international could be a timely one. Last weekend, the Bhoys were left without a recognised striker for the dying embers of their triumph in Leith, which isn’t a scenario that could’ve been allowed to persist for weeks to come.
Now, there may be an opportunity for Idah to make his second debut for Celtic in front of an excited home support. First and foremost, fans will hope Furuhashi’s fitness is nothing to worry about.
His shoulder issues aren’t new; it is public knowledge that he has endured problems with the area in the past.
Rodgers will likely reveal all once he undertakes his press duties, so let’s wait to see what he has to say on the matter.
