Lazio suffered another Serie A blow ahead of their trip to Celtic Park this week, losing to AC Milan 2-0 on Saturday evening.
Maurizio Sarri’s side looked to have turned a corner with a mid-week victory over Torino but tonight’s match always looked like a tough task and Milan lived up to their billing as match favourites.
Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor scored in the second half to secure their home victory and move top of the Italian top flight, although Inter could restore leader status by the end of tonight.
Lazio have only managed to earn seven points from their first 21 available this season and currently sit in 14th position. They could drop as low as 16th by the end of the weekend.
After last season’s finish in second place, clearly, it’s not where Lazio want to be. But they’ll again be hoping that the UEFA Champions League provides them some light after drawing against Atletico Madrid on matchday one.
They’ll arrive in Glasgow confident of picking up a result despite their domestic struggles. It’s certainly not going to be easy for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

However, backed by a sold-out Celtic Park and buoyant after today’s dramatic win in Motherwell, the Bhoys could pull off a European surprise.
Celtic have a strong history against Lazio in recent years, beating them home and away during the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League group stage. A repeat of that would be very tasty indeed.
Wednesday night is set to be an incredibly exciting occasion.
