Celtic loanee Leigh Griffiths scores his first goal since joining Dundee tonight, piling the misery on Aberdeen and their under-pressure manager Stephen Glass.

The Dons haven’t won a single game for over two months as the new era at Pittodrie goes from bad to worse with each passing week. Glass’ outfit are on a run of eight defeats and two draws in ten matches since 12th August.

Griffiths has had problems of his own since leaving the Bhoys on loan and is currently awaiting the outcome of a police investigation and SFA disciplinary hearing for allegedly kicking something into the crowd against St Johnstone.

However, he’ll be a happy man tonight as he opens his account for James McPake, a manager who has put quite a bit of faith in him recently.

The victory at Dens has moved Dundee off the foot of the Scottish Premiership table, pushing three points ahead of Ross County.

Remarkably, it’s their first victory of the league season.

If Dundee are to escape relegation, no doubt the goals of Griffiths will prove crucial across the piece.

With this goal in the bank, there’s now every chance he can go on a scoring run.

He loves hitting the back of the net against Hearts, as a Hibs fan, and he’ll be eyeing next week’s match at Tynecastle as another opportunity to show he can still perform at Premiership level.
