“Surely he’s not that unaware” – Fresh Neil Lennon comments have some Celtic fans staggered

Patience with Neil Lennon among the Celtic support seems to be wearing pretty thing, if a selection of replies on Friday are anything to go by.

The Hoops boss met media on Friday, just hours after we lost at home for the second successive match.

Lennon told media that he felt the criticism on his Celtic stars was over the top, given their haul of trophies in recent years. (Celtic Twitter)

And while that is very probably the case, many Hoops fans were keen to make their own point.

The message from many of them was very simple. We’re not criticising the team. It’s you.

Lennon must do his talking on the pitch

Goodwill towards our manager is clearly in short supply right now, and with good reason.

Our results, and more importantly performances, haven’t been good enough since returning from lockdown – and the blame has to rest at the manager’s door.

We have the best squad in the country and should be able to show that between now and May.

There were certainly green shoots of recovery in the latter stages of Thursday’s Europa League reversal against AC Milan.

The players looked far more comfortable in the 4-2-3-1 formation.

But many will question why Lennon hasn’t worked that out prior to now. And why he seems to be making so many contradictory comments in the media.

There’s no doubting that the Celtic boss is on the edge right now. He has to win us all back over, rather than the other way round.
