Lewis Ferguson addresses "funny" Scott Brown antics vs Celtic rivals

Lewis Ferguson has laughed off Celtic legend Scott Brown’s goading of Rangers, and stated that the Aberdeen players find his antics funny.

Brown had the Rangers players and supporters on strings earlier this week during the Dons’ 1-1 draw with the Ibrox side. Dominating the midfield battle, Brown used all of his experience to get inside the Rangers players’ heads.

The Celtic legend laughed off Ryan Kent after he was sent off in the second half, whilst he clearly had James Tavernier riled too when he tried to put his arm around him. Not to mention he had absolutely baited the entire Rangers support who were seething come full-time.

However, Ferguson has stated that it’s what brings out the best in his captain as he stated the Aberdeen dressing room enjoy his on-field goading.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Ferguson said: “He is not shy but that is just the way he is. You don’t expect anything less from him. He gives them a bit and they give him a bit. It is a bit of back and forth.

“It is funny for us because we can laugh at the fans and Broony messing about. It’s the way he is and the type of guy he is. He buzzes off it and that stuff helps him to play better when people are on top of him and giving him a bit. That is what brings the best out of him.”

Scott Brown rolling back the years at Pittodrie after giving Celtic a helping hand

Brown appears to be absolutely flying once again at Pittodrie after a difficult final year at Celtic Park. Despite being a player/coach, he’s still managed 26 appearances this season as Stephen Glass turns to him on a regular basis [Transfermarkt].

One of Celtic supporters’ biggest fears about Brown coming up against Rangers for Aberdeen was whether he would be able to be as competitive. Whether Aberdeen’s lack of quality as a whole would lead to some tricky days for the Hoops icon against our rivals.

However, the truth is he’s been absolutely loving this fixture all season. Firstly scoring a diving header at Ibrox and then winding them up no end at Pittodrie – it’s no wonder Broony is loving life in the Granite City. He’s helped take 4 points off Rangers this term much to do with the midfield control he’s had on these fixtures.

And it’s not as if Brown has been isolating his best performances for games against our rivals either. Many in the Rangers support will have you pretend he doesn’t bother trying against us. Anyone who’s watched Aberdeen vs Celtic fixtures this season will know that’s a lie – he nearly scored against us at Pittodrie had it not been for swift Joe Hart reactions!

It’s just great to see him still enjoying his playing days even if it’s still difficult to get used to seeing him in an Aberdeen jersey. Ferguson clearly loves playing alongside him too and he’s said it several times already this term [Scottish Sun].

Hopefully, he has a few more tricks up his sleeve against Rangers this season yet. Just so long as none of them work in the other 2 league fixtures against us of course.
