Liam Scales addresses his lack of Celtic game time with Irish media

Summer Celtic signing Liam Scales has admitted he is still getting to grips with the way his new club plays under Ange Postecoglou.

The defender joined from Shamrock Rovers at the end of August but he’s only made a brief appearance off the bench against lower-league Raith Rovers so far.

However, hopes remain high he can play a part this season and his latest call up to Ireland is proof enough of his potential.

For Scales it’s just about remaining patient, telling Pundit Arena: “I knew it was going to be a step up, and I’m still getting to grips with the system and the way [Ange] wants to play. It’s another step up in intensity with the kind of levels of fitness levels required.

“I just have to be patient. Once I get my opportunity, it’s important that I take it. That’s all I can really go off. I’m not really used to not playing games so it’s unusual, but I’m enjoying it. I just have to be patient and keep working hard.”

Scales certainly has the intrigue factor that has fans invested in his progress. He remains one of the few summer signings on whom the jury is still out.

He has the time to bed himself into this squad and make a push for regular minutes in Ange Postecoglou’s set-up.

Making a move to Celtic is big for any player. A young Irishman switching to Glasgow and taking on a whole new football philosophy will be a process.

Hopefully he can push on after this international break after another confidence-boosting inclusion in Stephen Kenny’s plans.

In other news, Kyogo Furuhashi has been blown away by the Celtic supporters.
