Brendan Rodgers has indicated that representatives of Liam Scales and Celtic will soon be in discussions regarding a new contract at the club.
Scales has been one of the surprise packages of the season so far, impressing Celtic staff, supporters and pundits across his 15 appearances in all competitions.
The player himself has made it clear he is loving his rise in status and has a passion for representing the Bhoys. Now he could go from being on the verge of an exit in the summer to landing a new long-term contract.
Scales’ current deal is due to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season but Rodgers doesn’t want his situation dragging on into the last year of that agreement.

Rodgers said this week [Scottish Sun]: “It’s something that I’m sure the club and his representative will look at. It doesn’t sit well with me when players are going down to the final stages of contracts. I think you only need to look at the fact that I’ve chosen him to play very consistently in games.
“There are also players back now fit that are pushing him but he’s still performing to a high level. As I said to him, it’s about consistency.
“Keep showing that you can be consistent and stay focused. But there’s no doubt that he’s stepped in and done really well.”
Scales will look to block out all the external noise at the moment and stay on the mission of keeping squadmates out of the team. Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki are both on the quest for minutes at his expense right now.
It may well be his future isn’t determined until the end of the season. By that point, all parties will know whether this period has simply been a purple patch or the true emergence of a player ready to be part of the Celtic group for several years.
