Liel Abada has been pictured at a Glasgow restaurant amid speculation surrounding his future.

The winger, who made over 100 appearances in two-and-a-half seasons at Celtic, now plays for Charlotte FC in MLS.

However, Abada is expected to move this summer, with several English Championship clubs keen. He is yet to score in nine MLS appearances this season.

With US club soccer now on hold due to the World Cup, the Israeli international is now back in Glasgow, where he made his name in Hoops.

Liel Abada visits Bella Vita in Glasgow

Italian restaurant Bella Vita in the Southside of Glasgow have posted a picture with Abada on Instagram with a Charlotte shirt.

Their message reads: “To my very Good friend Liel Abada — it was most disappointing timing for me not be able to spend time with you last night as l am in Italy on a short holiday.

“thank you for being so kind on bringing me the top from USA on this short visit. I hope you and your guests have enjoyed your dinner with us Bella Vita to the next time.”

Abada was still a teenager when he became one of Ange Postecoglou’s first signings in 2021 – he went on to put up solid numbers over two-and-a-half years in Glasgow.

His total of 15 goals in his debut season would’ve ranked him third among the club’s scorers this season. Among his strikes were crucial goals in Europe and against Rangers.

Shortly into Brendan Rodgers’ tenure, he made the move to Charlotte, where he has spent the last two years.

He plays under ex-Aston Villa boss Dean Smith in the USA, moving to the club for a fee around £8 million.

Swansea City, Norwich City and Birmingham City are among the interested clubs in England’s second tier; all three of them already have ex-Celtic players on their books.

Money isn’t an object… who are you bringing back this summer?

Liel Abada on life after Celtic

Speaking on his post-Celtic career last month, Abada spoke about MLS and the support he had received after a ‘tough year’ in Glasgow.

He said via The Herald: “I had like a tough year last season, but I’m starting to feel really good. I’m really happy to be here.

“I’ve had so much support from the staff, from the coaches, from players, from the fans, and you know, I feel like it’s home here so it’s a really good place for me.

“The MLS is a really good league with really good players. In Israel we have so many good talents, young players, and I think it would be good for them, but you know, I cannot control who comes here or not.”
