Liel Abada was one of Ange Postecoglou’s first signings at Celtic and his contribution to the Australian manager’s success over the last two seasons cannot be underestimated.

The 21-year-old winger made his 100th appearance for Celtic yesterday in the 5-0 win over Aberdeen and the club paid tribute to the youngster on Twitter yesterday.

Abada has scored 27 goals and created 19 assists over his career at Celtic. He opened his goalscoring account against St Mirren in the 6-0 win over The Saints at Celtic Park back in August of 2021. But his most important goal came in the 1-0 win over Dundee United in January 2022 at Parkhead.

Sitting at 0-0 with just a few minutes left to play, Abada fired home from close range to ensure the three points stayed at Celtic Park in what was a pivotal point of the season.

Celtic were due to face Rangers the following week but knew that we had to win against Dundee United if we had any hopes of taking the top spot with a victory in the Glasgow Derby.

Abada was also a key player in that 3-0 win with a goal and an assist and ever since that day, Celtic have been the dominant force in Scottish football.

The Israeli international has been the subject of much transfer speculation over the last few months but only recently dismissed any talk of leaving the club by admitting he is happy at Celtic.

With three years left on his contract, the Celtic fans will be hoping that Abada stays at the club for the foreseeable future. His performance against Aberdeen yesterday gave us hope that he is now starting to return to the form that we have come to love from him.
