Liv Fergusson, the architect of one of the most beautiful clips of last season, has departed Celtic.

The club confirmed the news on the Celtic FC Women Twitter account on Thursday morning.

They wrote: “Celtic FC Women can confirm that Liv Fergusson has departed the club. Thanks for everything Liv, and all the best for your new venture.”

Fergusson leapt to fame amongst the Celtic support after a clip of her mocking a Rangers player during a derby went viral.

With Celtic leading 2-0 in the closing stages against our rivals in the Scottish Cup final, Fergusson was one of three players introduced to the action.

She entered the pitch for Jacynta, ran to our position and seemed to have something said to her by a disgruntled Rangers player.

She aimed a cheeky smirk at her opponent — with TV camera picking up the moment.

Over 1.3 million people viewed the clip once it was posted online (Scottish Sun) as Celtic fans basked in the glory of another win over Rangers.

It’s hard to put your finger on exactly what made the pretty inoffensive clip so special.

The only solution I can arrive at is that there was almost a hint of pity in the expression. She almost felt sorry for our rivals, but still had to have a laugh to herself.

It arrived after another campaign of Celtic dominance over Rangers at virtually every level — including the SWPL.

Let’s hope for more of the same next season.
