Celtic hero Jeremie Frimpong is rumoured to be close to completing a move to Liverpool.
Frimpong was a firm fan favourite at Celtic as the young Dutch defender helped the club seal a Quadruple Treble in his 18-month Parkhead stay.
In January 2022, Frimpong moved to Bayer Leverkusen in a sale that made him one of Celtic’s most expensive transfer sales of all time.
And now, strongly tipped to make the switch to Anfield, Liverpool boss Arne Slot has finally broken his silence on rumours linking him to the former Celtic man.

Arne Slot says there is ‘no need’ to talk about Liverpool signing Jeremie Frimpong
Slot has been tight-lipped over the rumours that Liverpool are set to sign Frimpong and hand Celtic a nice cash sum into the bargain.
Speaking after Liverpool’s defeat to Brighton last night, Slot said he will speak about the transfer when it’s time to announce it.
Slot told Sky Sports, “What do you think? What we all know is the moment we announce it, that is the moment to talk about it, in general, and we haven’t announced anything, so no need to talk about anyone.”
Liverpool will pay Celtic the guts of £6m should the move for Frimpong be completed this summer as the Parkhead club hold a 30% sell-on clause on the international full-back.
Jeremie Frimpong’s Celtic stats vs Bayer Leverkusen
Frimpong quickly established himself as a Celtic regular under Neil Lennon as his blistering pace caused Scottish defenders to have nightmares about him.
After his move to the Bundesliga, Frimpong has flourished into one of the best wingbacks in Europe as his Liverpool move beckons.
But how do his stats at Leverkusen match up with his time at Celtic?
| Jeremie Frimpong | Played | Goals | Assists |
| Celtic | 51 | 3 | 8 |
| Bayer Leverkusen | 190 | 30 | 44 |
Frimpong has three major honours from his time winning a treble at Celtic and another three in Germany after winning the Bundesliga, the German Cup and the German Super Cup.
