Luis Palma hasn’t had the best of times at Celtic or Honduras.

His lack of game time at Parkhead meant that Palma’s international career stalled slightly after the Celtic winger found himself relegated to the Honduras bench as well.

Celtic winger Palma was subbed off 45 minutes into Honduras’ horrific 6-0 defeat to Canada this month, but the 26-year-old redeemed himself this morning.

Palma’s stunning last-minute Honduras winner made the Celtic man the talk of the town but it appears his goal celebration has annoyed some in his homeland’s media.

Luis Palma slammed after Celtic winger’s goal celebration for Honduras

Palma has annoyed one journalist back in Honduras after the Celtic winger sent a message to the Honduran national team critics.

After scoring his fifth international goal, the Hoops forward did this:

Palma was the darling of much of the Honduran media but, it appears that his celebration annoyed journalist Julio Cesar Cruz.

Cruz took to X and said, “Luis Palma, you’re still a nobody in the National Team, so do your job and if you’re going to shut us up, let it be on the field against Panama and in the important matches for the Bicolor. You’ve rightfully earned the criticism for your TikTok lives, so speak on the field.”

Palma hits back as Celtic star comes out firing at Honduras critics

Palma was asked about the goal celebration post-match and admitted that even though the Honduras team listens to what is being said about them, they take it all ‘with a grain of salt’.

Palma told Diez, “Both teams were evenly matched, we had more chances to score, and in the second half, as is typical, sometimes you have to defend and know how to attack, that’s key.

“It’s a tough match [facing Panama next]. We know the level of competition Panama is at, the competition there will be. We have to enjoy it and compete.

And on the goal celebration the Celtic winger said, “This is a dedication to no one. We take everything that’s said about this group with a grain of salt, and I think they’re right in some ways, and we’re very professional about how to act.”

Let’s hope Palma can bring that kind of fighting talk back to Glasgow and give Brendan Rodgers something to think about during Celtic’s pre-season tour.
