Celtic told the Premier League job Brendan Rodgers could take after resigning

Brendan Rodgers is out of the Celtic door…for a second time.

When Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester City midway through the campaign in 2019, it was met with fury from the supporters.

The feeling is different now, as Rodgers resigned as Celtic boss on Monday evening, 24 hours after the defeat at Hearts, which puts the champions of Scotland eight points behind the surprise leaders.

Given Rodgers’ relationship with the board, and the supporters protesting against the powers that be, the Irishman is probably going to be applauded for his actions this time around, but where next for the departed Celtic boss?

Brendan Rodgers as the next Wolves manager after leaving Celtic?

Several Premier League jobs have become available this season, including Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou being appointed Nottingham Forest manager, and then being sacked 39 days later.

Wolves are yet to win a Premier League game after nine matches, sitting at the bottom of the table in England’s top-flight.

It was suggested by Jamie O’Hara that Rodgers could become Wolves’ next boss, and he even suggested there could have been ‘contact’ made, as he told talkSPORT.

“They have had a bad start to the season, haven’t they?!” stated O’Hara about Celtic. “Getting beaten at the weekend was a stinker for them. Rangers are in turmoil; they should really be walking this.

“Maybe he has come to an end and thought, ‘not for me.’ Maybe there is another job in the pipeline coming up, and he probably thinks, ‘I am going to leave now.’

“The Wolves job might be the one Brendan has looked at and made contact. He thinks, ‘you know what, before it gets any worse. ‘I need to get out of here.’ Wolves are terrible. They are having a stinker.”

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira clashes with Wolves fans

There is no pressure like that at Celtic, but if Rodgers were to become Wolves’ next boss, then the story is the same.

Fosun are the owners of the Midlands side, and their fans have protested for the Chinese owners to sell up, and there is a major breakdown in the relationship between those in the boardroom and those paying their tickets.

Sound familiar?!

It’s even spilling onto the pitch because, after Wolves were beaten by a stoppage-time Burnley goal over the weekend, their under-fire boss, Vitor Pereira, clashed with home fans.

All is not well, so if the Wolves job does become available, then Rodgers had better think carefully.
