Maik Nawrocki sends defiant Celtic title message despite Hoops dropping points at Pittodrie

Celtic suffered a roadblock in their pursuit of a third Scottish Premiership title on the bounce after drawing 1-1 with Aberdeen yesterday at Pittodrie.

Despite extending their unbeaten run to seven matches across all competitions, Brendan Rodgers’ men had Nicolas Kuhn to thank for a scrappy equaliser to salvage something from the wreckage, cancelling out Bojan Miovski’s cultured opener that occurred early in the second half.

The Hoops will need to call on the plethora of title-winning experience within their side to get over Saturday’s disappointment by recovering away to Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday.

Maik Nawrocki has experience lifting the Polish Cup and Super Cup at former club Legia Warsaw, though he has yet to taste silverware at Parkhead since moving to Glasgow for a reported £4.3 million last summer [Transfermarkt].

Nevertheless, he is bullish about his chances of being able to experience glory at the end of his debut campaign in green and white.

Celtic defender Maik Nawrocki issues defiant title message

Poland Under-21 international Nawrocki stepped in for the injured Cameron Carter-Vickers away to Aberdeen and endured a mixed time of things, with former Dons man Russell Anderson claiming he was lucky not to see red at Pittodrie for a second bookable offence.

Looking forward, the 22-year-old is defiant that his side can achieve what they set out to do at the beginning of the campaign.

Nawrocki said [Daily Record]: “Celtic are strong enough to win trophies. I’m really positive about what we can achieve in coming months. It would mean a lot to win the title here in my first year. It would be the first title of my career, so it would be special.

“But right now, we just have to concentrate on winning all of our games. If we do that, it will be fine in the end.

“It’s encouraging to look around the dressing room and see the experienced players that are here. Most of them were here last season and won the Treble, so they’re used to it. I look up to guys like Joe Hart and Callum McGregor, who are so experienced.”

As far as it goes, there are only 14 games left to play in the Scottish Premiership and the Bhoys will be keen to rack up as many points as possible to put themselves in a commanding position.

The Scottish Cup will also offer a major incentive for Celtic to try and end the campaign with a domestic double, though we will need to wait and see if they can succeed on both fronts.
