Martin O’Neill’s Celtic fate seems to finally be sealed.
Since replacing Brendan Rodgers on an interim basis, O’Neill has reinvigorated his Celtic players, overseeing a return to positive form.
Despite this, talks with Wilfried Nancy over the permanent role have continued, and he now looks set to assume the role after Celtic’s clash with Dundee.
We’ve already had a false start, when O’Neill delivered the surprise news that he would remain in charge beyond the Hibs game, having previously indicated that this would be his last.
And ahead of the Celtic Park farewell, Mark Guidi has one theory on why O’Neill could unexpectedly stay again.

Nancy has reportedly travelled to Glasgow ahead of taking Celtic training on Thursday.
Surely it’s too late for things to take an unexpected twist again?

For Guidi, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, one key detail leads him to consider the possibility of another unexpected extension.
He said: “If Celtic win 6-0 on [Wednesday] night, who’s to say that that they won’t just keep O’Neill on for another week?
“Because all we’re doing is surmising. Obviously Martin O’Neill gets plenty of clues, we all expect it to be Nancy, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that.
“But Celtic haven’t committed to a date. We’re thinking that it’s going to be Thursday, but all we’re going by is the fact that Martin said that ‘tomorrow will be my last game’.
“But he said that last week.”
If nothing else, a 6-0 win would certainly make things slightly awkward for Nancy when he does come in.

Celtic lost their last top-of-the-table clash with Hearts in what ultimately turned out to be Rodgers’ last game – the reverse fixture will now be Nancy’s first.
He will likely need at least four points from his remaining three Europa League games, in order to avoid elimination. Taking something from the glamour home fixture against Roma would be a start.
A gruelling first week will conclude with the small matter of the Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren. No room for slip-ups there.
There will be no respite afterwards either, with two rapid games against Aberdeen and Dundee United following.
