Celtic boss Martin O’Neill has delivered an injury update on Arne Engels after the Belgian was taken off during the win against Livingston.
The Celtic star could miss crucial games against Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Rangers after being forced off as the Bhoys beat Livingston.
Arne Engels worried the Celtic support after the midfielder dropped into a heap in the first half as the Belgian was replaced by Reo Hatate.
And now, Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has delivered an injury update on Engels as the Hoops boss seems worried about losing one of his best players.
A real blow to lose Arne Engels as he goes off injured against Livingston
Which Celtic player replaces him in the starting XI for the next game?
Engels has been pivotal for O’Neill and Celtic this season and as the Hoops were looking to put their injury worries behind them, the young midfielder looks like he could be out for a bit.

Martin O’Neill believes Arne Engels may have a thigh issue
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stole the Celtic headlines with his late winner to snatch all three points from Livingston.
But O’Neill addressed Engels’ injury as the Celtic boss said this could be ‘a problem’ for the Hoops.
O’Neill told Celtic TV, “I don’t know what it is. It might be a thigh. I’m not sure.
“I haven’t had a chance to speak to the medical team yet about that there.
“But it is a problem for us, you know, because Engels is, and has been, a very, very good player for us.”
Arne Engels’ Celtic stats shows importance to O’Neill
Engels has been much-maligned and is often treated unfairly by pundits and even fans as his price tag appears to be used to heavily criticise the Belgian.
But the Celtic midfielder’s stats on Fotmob show just how important Engels has been for the Hoops in the league this season.
- Average rating: 6.97
- In Celtic’s top ten of best players this season
- Successful passes: 716
- Pass accuracy: 84.2%
- Big chances created: 5

Engels’ dead ball delivery will be missed if he is out for any period of time as Celtic look to pick the player who could replace him over the coming weeks.
