Alan Brazil claims Martin O’Neill is fuming with the Celtic board and claims that transfers are at the heart of it.
Celtic’s January transfer business was heavily criticised by the Hoops support as O’Neill never spent a single penny strengthening the first team.
And it appears that Alan Brazil has been told that the Hoops boss is not happy as he shares how O’Neill has been left angry with the Celtic board over the winter window.
What would your message to Dermot Desmond be now that the transfer window has closed
Brazil told talkSPORT, “There is a big row at Celtic going on at the minute, we are not spending crazy money.
“Celtic have a habit of doing that, [saying] ‘we have got enough just to get by to win trophies’. But, the fans want more.
“I’m told Martin is raging with the transfers. They got three on loan, he didn’t want that, I believe.
“He wanted to buy some players, and it’s going to cost them probably.”
Martin O’Neill’s future at Celtic questioned again
This is not the first time Martin O’Neill’s happiness at Celtic has been questioned this week.
Brazil’s talkSPORT colleague Jim White debunked rumours he heard that O’Neill was set to quit Celtic amid rumours he was unhappy at the club.
Another rumour is not a good look, and if O’Neill does actually walk away from Celtic amid rumours of his unhappiness at the club’s transfer business, then this will add a tremendous amount of pressure on a board that is already under the cosh.
Martin O’Neill’s Celtic legacy
Martin O’Neill is a Celtic legend. Not one single fan will dispute that, even when this season is over.
If O’Neill walks at the end of the season and Celtic have won no silverware, the vast majority of the Hoops support will aim their criticism squarely on the Parkhead executives.
However, if the Celtic boss continues to spout this European narrative that money is holding the club back from competing on the continent, that is something fans will judge O’Neill on, not a trophyless season.
