Grading every Celtic signing made in the winter transfer window

It has been a couple of weeks since the transfer window closed, and the new arrivals have had the chance to settle into Celtic.

The Hoops made five signings in the window before adding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a free transfer after the deadline.

Martin O’Neill was desperate for reinforcements, particularly in the forward department and was rewarded, albeit late on.

Now that the dust has settled, here is how 67 Hail Hail have rated each Celtic signing made in the winter.

Which winter transfer window signing has impressed you the most in a Celtic shirt?

Julian Araujo – A

Julian Araujo was the first signing of the winter window, and the only player brought in by Wilfried Nancy.

Araujo has been the standout of the signings so far, and is slowly becoming a vital member of the side.

Right-back had been an issue all season due to Alistair Johnston’s injury but the Mexico international has provided stability and a threat going forward.

His goal against Kilmarnock could prove to be the difference in the title race and we hope to see more of it.

Tomas Cvancara – B

Celtic’s prayers were finally answered when Tomas Cvancara joined on loan to offer a solution to the club’s goalscoring woes.

Cvancara has only scored once so far but has had a hand in some important goals.

He provided an assist on his debut against Hearts and his role in two of the goals against Kilmarnock went under the radar.

We would like to see some more goals from the Czech international, but it’s been a solid start.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – C

He has been here the least, but Oxlade-Chamberlain has been attracting plenty of attention.

Oxlade-Chamberlain scored on his debut against Livingston and played 45 minutes against Kilmarnock, where he proved to be less effective.

There is some leeway with the 32-year-old due to his lack of gametime over the past 12 months, but a C is a solid start from his first two games.

Junior Adamu – C

Like Cvancara, Junior Adamu also made an instant impact on his debut by scoring a sensational backheeled goal.

Adamu started against Kilmarnock but was a passenger in the game and withdrawn at half time.

You can pick one forward to sign permanently for Celtic in the summer. Who are you picking?

Adamu or Cvancara?

He may be better suited to coming off the bench but right now, he is behind his fellow January arrival in the pecking order.

Joel Mvuka – D

After all of the deadline day drama involving Joel Mvuka, Celtic fans were expecting him to play a major part in the second half of the season.

So far, that hasn’t transpired.

Mvuka was hooked after 45 minutes against Dundee in the Scottish Cup and hasn’t been seen since.

The winger hasn’t been named in any of the matchday squads since then, and Mvuka’s arrival raises more question marks about Celtic’s recruitment.

Benjamin Arthur – D

Benjamin Arthur completes the list, but what can be said about him?

The centre-back is yet to make his debut since joining on loan and is seen as the fourth choice in the squad.

There is a suggestion that Arthur may not play a single minute for Celtic while on loan but having that extra body to select from is welcome, I guess.
