Matt O’Riley admits Celtic Park title preference but the party may come sooner than he realises

Matt O’Riley has admitted that he’d rather clinch the league title at Celtic Park than an away ground.

His Celtic side are just one win away from Premiership glory with a visit to Tynecastle on the agenda this weekend.

With a derby at Ibrox to come in our following match, it seems likely that the title will be sealed away from home.

O’Riley thinks it will be “great” either way but admits his preference would be winning it at Celtic Park.

“Personally I would rather win the league in front of our fans,” he said on Thursday, as reported by Yahoo Sport.

“But if we can win it there [at Tynecastle] it would be great.

“They [Celtic fans] will all be watching on television. I am sure there will be fans outside Tynecastle hoping we get the job done on that day.

“I am sure that later on in the season when we play home games we will be able to, hopefully, celebrate with them if we get the job done.”

The Celtic Park title party may come a lot sooner than O’Riley realises if recent times are anything to go by.

When we were crowned champions at Dundee United last May, there were celebrations on the Tannadice pitch as well as 80 miles away at Celtic Park.

Fans flocked to our ground soon after full-time and were eventually joined by the team in some pretty unreal scenes.

This video from Celtic on YouTube is well worth a watch to take you back to those amazing times.

Given that so many people were keen to flock to the ground at around 11pm on a Wednesday night, it’s fair to assume that we could see similar scenes this Sunday.

Okay, it won’t be pitch black. But it will be just as joyous.

What a weekend it could be.
