Celtic have ended the Scottish Premiership weekend four points clear of second-placed St Mirren and seven points clear of supposed title rivals Rangers.
An astonishing match at Fir Park this lunchtime ended 2-1 to the Bhoys over Motherwell thanks to goals from Luis Palma and Matt O’Riley.
O’Riley volleyed home with the last kick of the ball from a superb Greg Taylor cross, just seconds after the home side thought they had stolen a draw, following Palma’s late opener. That set up the prospect of Brendan Rodgers’ side increasing their points lead by the end of the day.
Barry Robson shows up Rangers at Ibrox
In the 3 pm kick-offs St Mirren could only manage a 1-1 draw away to Kilmarnock. And at Ibrox it was a hugely damaging day for Rangers, who were defeated 3-1 by Aberdeen, even going down to ten men in the second half.
The boos rang out in Govan at half-time and full-time. Pundits and fans will now consider that Michael Beale is on the brink of losing his job after some dreadful results in the opening stages of the season.
Celtic are sitting very pretty indeed. The Bhoys are undefeated in Premiership action and are now digging out results in difficult circumstances.

Today it looked like Rodgers’ outfit would only leave with a point, but there’s still an incredible mentality within this squad.
It’ll be very interesting to see how things develop across the city now. A change of manager is distinctly possible but the smart money would be on Celtic rising to the challenge of whoever comes in, if that happens.
For now, we can enjoy a glorious weekend in the Scottish Premiership. Celtic’s dominance continues.
In other news, Alistair Johnston is absolutely loving Brendan Rodgers; shares Celtic squad’s initial reaction.
