Brendan Rodgers knows how to improve players.

In fact, it’s probably one of the biggest points on the Celtic manager’s CV.

From Swansea to Liverpool to Leicester to the Hoops, Rodgers’ ability to elevate players to a higher level has shone through, and led to plenty of success.

Stuart Armstrong, Odsonne Edouard, Matt O’Riley and Daizen Maeda stand as the best examples of this from his two spells in Glasgow.

One Celtic man is looking to rediscover his best form after reuniting with Rodgers – and for one of his former teammates, the Hoops will give him a platform to finally show that.

Micah Richards ‘expected more’ from Celtic man

Celtic’s search for a striker in the summer transfer window didn’t go as smoothly as hoped.

But the man who it ended with has certainly made a positive start.

For Micah Richards, speaking on The Rest is Football, Kelechi Iheanacho’s potential was through the roof at Manchester City – and he expected more of him.

Richards Said: “I was with him at Man City, and, to be honest, I expected more. That’s how good I thought he was going to be. I thought he would play, not Champions League football in this country, but 8th to 5th, he could be a striker for him because his composure in front of goal was outstanding.”

“It has just not worked out, but he’s now at Celtic and it looks like he’s got his confidence back, what a platform to show that as well.”

It may not have gone exactly to plan for Iheanacho in his senior career so far, but Celtic can be the perfect place for him to make up for lost time.

Celtic have a different kind of striker in Kelechi Iheanacho

When you look at the strikers that Celtic have signed over recent years, experience has not been one of their main characteristics.

The likes of Edouard, Moussa Dembele and Adam Idah were not signed for the players that they were, but for the players that they could become.

Even players like Kyogo Furhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis who were further into their 20s did not arrive with top-level experience.

So Iheanacho is something different for the Hoops, with Rodgers looking to unlock the player he has shown in flashes that he can be.
