Scottish football was given a bit of an endorsement on USA television on Tuesday, with Celtic getting a mention.

Celtic will begin their Champions League adventure against Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday, with American network CBS Sports providing coverage of the game for their viewers.

If you haven’t seen it already, CBS Sports has become a trend and pretty popular for their Champions League coverage, which includes host Kate Abdo, legendary striker Thierry Henry, 2005 Champions League winner Jamie Carragher and two-time Premier League champion, Micah Richards.

But it’s not only Champions League games that CBS provide coverage for because you can also watch football from around the world, including Scotland’s top tier.

Celtic outclassed Rangers before the international break, with Brendan Rodgers’ side making a 100% start to the new campaign and now hoping to take that form into Europe.

But during CBS’ coverage, they also like to provide a comedy effect and make things light-hearted, with Carragher and Richards asked to plug a few things for the show.

From upcoming games in the Premier League to American viewers being able to watch Scottish football.

When they glanced over about Scotland, Richards quickly asked Carragher about who he prefers between the two Glasgow clubs and he didn’t hesitate, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (17/09/24 at 6:55 pm).

Celtic over Rangers

“Celtic or Rangers,” asked Richards, then Carragher responded: “I am Celtic.”

Celtic’s 100% start

Celtic are already proving to be too good for the rest of the league and another title is expected to be delivered.

The fans aren’t worried about domestic performances, with a lot of focus on this newly-revamped Champions League format and how it can help the Scottish champions.

Rodgers will be hoping that his team are being discussed and analysed by the likes of Carragher, Richards and Henry post-January because it will mean progression to the knockout stages.

Put Celtic’s away ties to the side for a minute, they should be knocking that door down and putting wins on the board from their home games, then the rest will take care of itself.
