BBC regular Michael Stewart has delivered his verdict on the latest Celtic shambles post-Dubai.
Celtic this afternoon announced that they have recorded a positive test in their training camp. The Hoops came back from Dubai at the end of last week after a highly-criticised warm-weather trip.
Despite the criticisms, the Hoops spent the week trying to stress why the Dubai camp was important. Images of players and management sun lounging and having a drink, however, undermined that message.
And now today’s positive test has been another PR blow for the club. That’s something Stewart was keen to mention in his tweet on the matter too. Here’s a look at what he had to say:
Stewart verdict on Celtic spot on; not seen the last of this
You can’t argue with any of this. There really is no defence of the club here, and we’re the first to launch one when we can. It’s a decision that totally alienated the support and now it’s been shown up.
Listen, it doesn’t matter whether the player was infected in Dubai or Scotland. That’s not the point. In fact, it may very well be the case that the initial contact was actually back home. But we should’ve known how this would’ve looked.
Why we felt a week in Dubai was more essential than the potential repercussions is bewildering. Considering all of the stick from government, the media, and fans like us, goodness knows what happens from here.

It would hardly be surprising if tomorrow’s match against Hibernian is cancelled for example. You wouldn’t find many complaints about it either. It would be a sensible decision.
All we can do is wait and see how this pans out. But if anything is representative of how our season has gone, it’s this utter shambles. Can anyone truly say they’re surprised by this?
Celtic are massively at fault here for a colossal PR disaster. Who knows whether this will affect our upcoming schedule further.
In other news, the supporters were absolutely raging with the club after their update.
