I think we can all agree that what we witnessed this afternoon from Celtic was a dogged defensive display that has sent us on our way to another major cup final.
After our victory today against Rangers, Michael Stewart says that the belief Ange Postecoglou has instilled in this Celtic team is the reason why we could be heading to another treble success come the end of the season.
Speaking post-match on Viaplay, Stewart said, “I think what you saw in the second half was a full-team performance from Celtic. In the first half, they had the cutting edge up top and got themselves 1-0 in front.

“In the second half, you saw the defence put in a wonderful performance led by Cameron Carter-Vickers. I’m not surprised that Chris [Sutton] gave him Man of the Match as he was outstanding. You see balls being thrown into the box and there’s a certain expectation that you think Celtic are going to deal with it.
“There’s a big part to play in that you feel that Celtic are going to do what they need to do. And at the moment I get the sense that the Rangers players don’t feel that they are going to win the game either. There is a real lack of belief there.
“That man there, Ange Postecoglou he’s a real character. He’s a real figurehead and he’s instilled that in Celtic. Because when he went into Celtic there was big changes needing to happen and there was big changes going to happen. And he’s been at the forefront of that and he’s leading them to his first-ever treble here.”
There is more to Celtic than just beautiful football
It seems obvious to say this, but it’s true. This Celtic side have shown for two season’s now that not only do they play the most attractive football in the league, they know how to grind out results when needed.

And against Rangers this season, we have shown that on three separate occasions now. The 2-2 draw at Ibrox was a test of our mental strength after two quick second-half goals seemed to have us on the ropes. But the team battled back with a superb Kyogo equaliser.
The league cup final win was a show of clinical finishing coupled with a solid defensive display. As was the 3-2 league win at Celtic Park.
And today? It was more of the same. We took our chance whilst Rangers dithered and we defended resolutely and with purpose. It’s little wonder Rangers lack belief. Because they know that whatever they throw at us, we can handle it and then some.
