Michael Stewart states whether Adam Idah will start Celtic’s Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen

The fans are going to get a rehearsal of the Scottish Cup final on Wednesday night.

Celtic make the trip to Pittodrie to take on Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen in the Premiership, which is also a re-run of that demolition job in the Scottish League Cup semi-final from November.

It’s going to be interesting to see what type of XI Brendan Rodgers puts out, especially with a game against St Mirren on Saturday afternoon.

Will Rodgers play his hand? Or will the Celtic Park faithful see the bench being used, especially the young guns?!

One man who will be keen to keep his place in the XI is Adam Idah, after he found the back of the net for the second successive week during Celtic’s win against Hibernian on Saturday.

Adam Idah’s involvement in Celtic against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final

Whether it’s Kyogo Furuhashi or Daizen Maeda, the man purchased for £9 million by Celtic has been in and out of the XI this season.

But it seems as though Idah is now starting to get comfortable in his starting seat, and Michael Stewart was asked if Rodgers will keep him in the XI for the cup final.

Stewart told Sportscene that he expects Idah to keep his place, as he feels the front three that started against Hibs will be on show at Hampden.

“I think he will start with Adam Idah,” said Stewart. “I think that’s probably one of the reasons why he has got that front three playing, at the moment.

“Elsewhere in the team, he is looking to rest some players. With Kuhn and Maeda on the wings and Idah through the middle. I think that’s the three that they will go with.

“Rather than any other sort of option with Jota out injured.”

Idah’s stats in Celtic’s last five Premiership matches

With Jota out injured, the front three probably picks itself now, unless Rodgers wants to start James Forrest or Yang for the final with Maeda down the middle.

If that happens, then Idah is unlucky, because not only is he proving to be a big game player, but he has also performed well of late.

Looking back on Celtic’s previous five Premiership matches, WhoScored have provided him with healthy ratings.
