Michael Stewart thinks Brendan Rodgers is about to start 23-year-old for Celtic

With eleven games left to go in the season, every single fixture for Celtic is a must-win if they are to ensure they successfully defend their Scottish Premiership title.

Two points behind Rangers is not the worst place to be in although we have been the architects of that after dropping silly points in December against Hearts and Kilmarnock and then again against Derek McInnes’ team last week and Aberdeen at the start of the month.

But as I said yesterday and probably today at some point, the win against Motherwell at Fir Park has shown a different side to this Celtic team and it is one that gives us hope leading into the Dundee game on Wednesday.

Fight and determination got Celtic over the line at Motherwell and it was, in part, down to Adam Idah.

The on-loan Norwich man grabbed another double and sparked this Celtic team to life and now, it seems, that Brendan Rodgers has a huge ‘dilemma’ on his hands.

Michael Stewart backs Adam Idah to start for Celtic

The BBC pundit was raving about Idah after the Fir Park win and said that Brendan Rodgers now has a selection ‘dilemma’ the he will relish heading into the final games of the season.

Stewart said [Sportscene], “It will be very interesting to see what happens during the week with regards to who is being picked.

“I would be surprised if Idah isn’t starting the game.

“His second goal was really good as well. The movement was impressive. The finish is not an easy one across the body and guiding it into the bottom corner.

“It was a very good goal from Celtic and it was the sort of thing that never looked like it was going to happen in the first half.

“Yes, it’s a dilemma but these are the things that I’m pretty sure that Brendan Rodgers would be happy to have.

“Because there’s certain other areas in the park where I’m sure he’s looking at what are the other options that he has got and it’s as obvious as there.”

No one would complain, I think at least, if Idah was given the nod against Dundee on Wednesday night. The Republic of Ireland international deserves his place after his performance yesterday.

And whilst that would mean that Kyogo Furuhashi would drop to the bench, if Idah does his job then it is up to the Japanese forward to win back his place.

But for now, all that matters is that Celtic pick up the next three points and if that means that Idah has to start every game to do so then I don’t think many Hoops supporters will disagree with that.
