Brendan Rodgers has been busy this weekend defending his comments on Celtic’s summer transfer window and even on his own future at the club.
The Celtic boss was forced to clarify his comments about the upcoming transfer window and his own future after Rodgers questioned his team’s mentality after the St Johnstone defeat.
Rodgers admitted that his Celtic squad needed strengthening after the defeat in Perth and also seemed to suggest that if the team didn’t get freshened up, then ‘the manager goes‘ instead.
However, after hearing the Celtic manager’s latest comments, Michael Stewart was left blown away with Rodgers as he praised him for how he handled the grilling from BBC reporter over the two issues.

Michael Stewart left impressed with Brendan Rodgers’ ‘interesting’ Celtic comments
Rodgers was asked about the timing of his transfer comments and whether or not they were a warning to his Celtic team at this stage of the season.
The Hoops boss rejected that as he told the BBC reporter he was looking into the comments too much but is adamant that he is still looking to strengthen the Celtic squad this summer and his answers left Stewart seriously impressed.
Stewart told BBC Radio Scotland, “All very interesting, it’s got to be said. And I thought he was very clear and again, very interesting to hear.
“150% he is there next season? Because, I’ll be honest, I think there’s always that question mark because of what happened the first time around that is Brendan looking for some sort of exit?
“And I think he’s handled that situation brilliantly there. And I think all Celtic supporters should be very, very happy with it, because it shows you that he’s not resting on any laurels there.”
Michael Stewart delighted as Rodgers tells Celtic ‘I’m not going anywhere’
With questions on Rodgers’ Celtic future also surfacing, Stewart was also impressed with the message the Hoops boss sent after he put down ‘the letter of the law’ to the club.
Stewart continued, “I think he’s brilliant at being able to develop an atmosphere where complacency has no place, and he feels like it has started to creep in, and he’s not reading the riot act. He’s not somebody that shouts and bawls.
“But he’s doing it in a different way here. He is putting down the letter of the law and making sure that everybody recognises, not just the players, but the club as a whole, ‘Look, I’m not going anywhere. I’m here, but for me to be here, there needs to be continual growth and progression’, which I think is absolutely spot on and fair enough.”
With Celtic now knowing that they are potentially just one win away from winning the title, the message Rodgers sent to his players seems to have landed after the Parkhead performance against Kilmarnock.
With the Scottish Cup up next, the players seem to have sprung out of their lull just in time to ensure their treble bid is not derailed prematurely.
