Wilfried Nancy needs to beat Dundee United to take the pressure off him at Celtic.

Nancy has the unwanted record no Celtic manager wants after he failed to win any of his first three games as the Hoops boss.

The manner of Celtic’s cup final defeat to St Mirren has really brought the problems Nancy has to the fore as players looked confused, at times clueless, and also simply out of ideas at Hampden.

And now, with Celtic set to face Dundee United, USA legend Eric Wynalda has told Nancy the simple thing he needs to do to ensure he wins at Tannadice tonight.

Eric Wynalda tells Celtic boss why he’s ‘worried’ about Nancy’s tactics

Wynalda’s career in the MLS and as a USA international striker is legendary. With over 100 caps, a CONCACAF Gold Cup winner and an MLS All-Star the now radio show presenter has some strong advice for the Celtic boss.

Wynalda said on the WTF: Wynalda Talks Football show on SiriusXM FC, “It’s pretty simple. Just go back to a four-back system, please. Honestly, I’m watching the game and I’m thinking they look disorganised.

“They didn’t look like they were meant to be. I mean, clueless maybe is a little bit too much, but when players are running over to the sidelines and asking for a conversation with the manager, that’s when I start to worry.”

That was so evident in the cup final defeat to St Mirren and Wynalda goes further and tells Nancy how to go ahead and beat Dundee United.

Wynalda’s Chelsea example as US legend tells Nancy ‘this is Celtic’

The 3-4-3 system is clearly not working at Celtic with the players that Nancy has and Wynalda uses an example of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte going through the same thing as a reason for the Hoops boss to ditch his system for the time being.

Wynalda continued, “It’s great to have your new ideas. I’ve seen other managers go through this as well.

“I mean, Antonio Conte, when he first went to Chelsea, they begged him to play a four-back system, and when it didn’t work, he got his way and they got to play a three.

Was Wilfried Nancy right to instantly implement his 3-4-3 at Celtic?

“But it’s Celtic. I mean, he’s gotta forego some of his principles to just say, ‘I’ve gotta play with the guys I’ve got, and I’ve gotta give them the best chance to win and that means it’s changing my system’.

“But it almost seems like he’s in a no-win spot at this point.”

And Wynalda is correct. Nancy can’t win. If he ditches his system, he’s admitting failure but if he carries on with it and continues to lose then all bets are off.

The Celtic boss must win tonight. Even if it’s the ugliest win he can muster up, the three points are all that matters.
