Brendan Rodgers has spoken consistently about the need to add quality to his Celtic team for many months now.
The Celtic boss first breached the subject after the Champions League group stage exit last season and with no new signings added to the squad yet this summer, the Parkhead support will be hoping that Rodgers is being very thorough with his selections.
Because what they cannot afford to do is continue to sign project players and hope that they will turn on performances on Europe’s big stage.
Celtic need experienced players who have been over the course and players who know what it takes to win at a club like ours.
Which is why Mohamed Elyounoussi could provide Rodgers with a perfect solution to a problem position at a bargain price.
Celtic’s £2.5m transfer remedy
According to a report in Tipsbladet, Elyounoussi has a minimum fee release clause in his contract at FC Copenhagen that could see the Norwegian international leave for as little as €3m (2.52m).
Elyounoussi is well-known to the Celtic fans after he joined the club on an 18-month loan spell under Neil Lennon back in 2019.
The 29-year-old made 67 appearances scoring 24 goals and creating 14 whilst collecting a league title, one Scottish Cup and one League Cup.

The Norwegian also scored four times in the Europa League against the likes of AC Milan and Lille and also starred in the famous 1-0 League Cup final win over Rangers that helped Celtic on their way to the Quadruple Treble.
With 55 caps for his country, Elyounoussi would offer Brendan Rodgers that much-needed quality he has been looking for and a proven calibre of player who can handle playing for Celtic.
And at such a low price, surely the Celtic manager would look at the Copenhagen winger as a viable option to help improve the team for next season?
