A beaming Moritz Jenz was delighted to hear he has been given a kind nickname from some Celtic supporters already after interacting with fan podcast Homebhoys at today’s media event.
The HomeBhoys were one of the fan-led outlets in attendance to question Jenz and manager Ange Postecoglou, as usual, prompting interesting and entertaining answers.
Asked if he was aware of the nickname circulating amongst the support, Jenz was at first confused, worrying that it may not be friendly in nature.

However, when informed it was actually ‘Mercedes Jenz’, he beamed and laughed: “Yes, I’ll take this then. I’ll take it. I think it’s fantastic, thank you.”
It was a fun exchange, and you can see it towards the end of the upload on the official Celtic YouTube channel.
Jenz is already a pretty popular member of the first-team squad amongst fans, despite only joining the club in the summer.
Of the recent arrivals, he’s had more minutes on the pitch than anyone, making 12 starts and a single substitute appearance.
Injuries to Carl Starfelt have necessitated his use, but he has quickly formed an effective partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers meaning many supporters are relaxed he is filling in for the Swede.
In fact, despite losing to RB Leipzig at Celtic Park, both of them showed promising signs of an ability to compete on the European scene as a unit.
Against Motherwell on Wednesday night, the duo helped the team keep their first clean sheet since the big derby win against Rangers at the start of September.
Tomorrow’s tricky trip to Tynecastle will be another chance for them to demonstrate progress as a pairing.
