Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell has gone above and beyond in some brilliant Celtic praise today.

Kettlewell takes his side to Celtic Park on Saturday, with Well sitting eighth in the table.

The Steelmen won’t make the top six and are unlikely to be dragged into the relegation dog fight.

Perhaps that’s why the former Ross County boss has been so effusive in his praise of Ange Postecoglou‘s all-conquering Celts.

Most Premiership managers will have some nice things to say about us ahead of meetings, but Kettlewell has certainly gone past traditional platitudes.

“I think this is one of the best sides the Scottish Premiership has seen for several years,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“I’m a massive Scottish football fan, I have been my entire life, and I think you would pitch this team up there with many other excellent sides.

“We look at Celtic and Rangers sides that have got to European finals, and I would pitch this side right up there with those.

“What I have to do is pay massive compliment to the work they do, the consistency levels that they have.”

Believe it or not, there are even more flattering quotes from the Motherwell boss’ press conference.

He also praised our energy levels, style of play and described Saturday’s fixture as the toughest in the league.

It’s clear that there is a lot of admiration from Kettlewell for this Celtic team and Ange Postecoglou.

The feeling is probably mutual too, given that the Motherwell boss has steered his side to five wins from eight matches since taking charge.

Saturday won’t be an easy game for us. But victory will move us a step closer to glory.
