SPFL chief Neil Doncaster has praised the thrilling title race between Celtic, Rangers and Hearts — and says a final-day decider would be incredible for fans and attendances alike.
Celtic are battling with Hearts and Rangers for the Scottish Premiership title in what has been one of the most dramatic league campaigns to date.
However, let’s be honest, the only reason Hearts are up there is because Celtic and Rangers have been so poor, the Tynecastle club have opened up a six-point gap at the top of the table.
Will we hunt Hearts down and win the title?
But for Neil Doncaster, he doesn’t care why it’s happening as the SPFL CEO outlines his hopes on what kind of finale he wants to see happen at the end of the season.

SPFL CEO is buzzing for Celtic, Hearts and Rangers title race
The last time the title went to the last day of the season, it was before Rangers went bust in 2012. Every year Celtic have won it, they have blown the competition away in Scotland.
And this is why Doncaster is buzzing about Hearts and Rangers putting up a fight.
Doncaster told The Scottish Sun, “We’ve waited a very very long time for this, and it’s fantastic to see it working out in front of our eyes.
“[A tight title race] helps in terms of driving interest in the game, driving attendances and economically.
“To see so many games in front of full stadia, something meaningful to play for, and three or perhaps four-way title race, it’s fantastic to see.”
Doncaster wants final-day Celtic, Hearts and Rangers drama
To keep the interest in the Scottish game, Doncaster says he would like to see some final day title drama, just like Helicopter Sunday almost 20 years ago now.
Doncaster continued, “We haven’t had too many final-day deciders in my time up here, so perhaps a final-day decider in front of the Sky Sports cameras would be good to look forward to.
“I suspect I’d be sat in a helicopter!
“Let’s hope so in some ways, I don’t particularly enjoy them, but it would be fantastic if we could achieve [a final-day decider].”
If the title race does come down to the final day, Celtic supporters will be hoping the outcome is far better than the day Doncaster reflects on.
Losing the title on the last day is a painful affair and it’s happened to Celtic far too often this century.
