Celtic boss Neil Lennon has given little away when it comes to the prospect of the Hoops making any signings in the near future, the Daily Record reports.
The Hoops boss has refused to confirm or deny that West Ham’s Albian Ajeti will join the club. He would only say that ‘talks are ongoing’, and that a deal is not confirmed.
“Talks are ongoing”
“I am not aware of how close we are in doing that. I know talks are ongoing. That’s my position at the minute, it may or may not happen, as is the case with a lot of deals we are trying to negotiate” Lennon said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
Lennon did all but confirm though that Vakoun Bayo is set to leave the club.
“I am pretty sure Bayo is going to join Toulouse on loan. It would be good to get a couple more bodies and obviously you can name them in the UEFA line-up as well.”
The Celtic manager’s position is a sensible one to take at the moment. After all, there is no guarantee that any transfer will happen.
It can take time for a move to happen, and it can break down at any minute. That is why the Hoops boss is smart not to take anything for granted when it comes to transfers.
Squad needs to be freshened up
Of course, the Hoops boss will want to bring more players to the club. The squad does need to be freshened up slightly despite all the success the club has had in recent seasons.
You need to keep making changes to ensure that the squad is kept on their toes, and constantly challenged. That is what any new signing at Celtic has to do.
With the transfer window open until October Celtic will no doubt be linked with plenty of players coming in and out of the club.
Lennon is smart not to give much away until a deal is completed, fans will just need to watch this space.
