The next Glasgow Derby between Celtic and Rangers is closer than many people think.
The big game is less than two weeks away Brendan Rodgers has the opportunity to put a huge 19-point gap between himself and Rangers with a win at Celtic Park.
With possible treble on the horizon, everything looks peachy for the Celtic manager in Paradise. Compare and contrast that with what’s going on at Rangers, it’s not looking so good for Barry Ferguson.
The interim Ibrox boss is still reeling from Rangers’ latest defeat to Motherwell, and with Celtic up next in the Scottish Premiership, Neil Lennon has a tough message for the fledgling manager.

Neil Lennon tells Barry Ferguson he is in for a ‘tough’ time at Celtic Park
Speaking ahead of Celtic’s game against Hibs in the Scottish Cup, Lennon said that Rangers’ next two fixtures against Fenerbache and the Bhoys is going to be difficult for Ferguson.
Lennon told The Scottish Sun, “It is an audition for Barry. I understand what he’s going through. He’s got a big couple of games coming up — Fenerbahce and Celtic.
“That’s as good as it gets when you’re Rangers manager, but it’s going to be a tough task.”
Celtic’s dominance during Barry Ferguson’s Rangers playing days
During his playing days, Ferguson faced Celtic a total of 40 times in his Rangers career with the Hoops coming out on top more, on average.
Celtic’s resurgence under Martin O’Neill caused Ferguson some real pain as the Rangers captain as the former Hoops gaffer laid the foundations for the dominance fans currently enjoy at Parkhead right now.
So with that in mind, here are now many times Celtic humbled Ferguson as a player as the Glasgow Derby game looms:
- Celtic won 19 out of 40 derbies that Ferguson played
- Nine games were draws
- Celtic’s biggest win was the 6-2 game at Parkhead
- Celtic swept up 6 League titles, three Scottish Cups and four League Cups over Ferguson’s two spells as a Rangers player.
Here’s hoping Brendan Rodgers can inflict more pain on Ferguson as a manager as Celtic make another charge towards a domestic treble.
