Neil Lennon’s post-match comments in praise of Albian Ajeti suggest he’ll now get a sustained run in the Celtic first-team.
Ajeti was on the Celtic scoresheet for the first time since September against Kilmarnock last night, rounding off a 4-0 victory for the Bhoys.
The Rugby Park match was just the Swiss international’s tenth start for the club since making the switch from West Ham for a multi-million-pound fee last summer.
It’s fair to say it’s been a disappointing transfer move up to this point. How much of that is the striker’s fault though is unclear.
He’s struggled to get a consistent run of games under his belt, with the manager chopping and changing his striking options.
Lennon has noted he’s had fitness problems. However, he’s also hopeful those are now behind him.
The manager told Sky Sports last night (22:00): “He’s worked hard at his fitness. He’s had fitness issues.
“I think he’ll get a run of games now and he looked very good and very strong tonight. He complemented Odsonne very well, so yeah it’s a good night’s work for him.”
Celtic need to find out how good Albian Ajeti is
Ajeti may not be the future at Celtic Park but, at this stage, we don’t really know either way. The striker needs a run in the team between now and the end of the season. That’s the only way the club can make a logical decision on him in the summer.
It may well be he isn’t the answer, but if we can determine that now, it only allows us to better plan ahead. If he needs to be sold or shipped out on loan, then so be it.

Personally, I still have high hopes for him. He’s not set the world alight at Celtic. But his six goals to date suggest he is a fine finisher with a bit of confidence flowing through him.
I’m looking forward to seeing what he can achieve in the side over the next few weeks now that he has the backing of Lennon once more.
In other news, Celtic are set to make a decision on Ewan Henderson.
