Neil Lennon set for Scottish football manager return with ambitious Championship side who just sacked ex-Celtic kid

Neil Lennon is due another crack at management after a year out.

The Celtic legend has been a successful boss at the majority of clubs he has worked at including adding to the Hoops’ trophy haul with 10 trophies in Glasgow.

Elsewhere he has also won titles including with Hibs in the Championship and Omonia in the Cypriot Cup, so it will be pleasing to see the Irishman back in the dugout where he belongs.

Lennon has tried abroad with Omonia as well as Rapid Bucharest where it unfortunately did not quite work out as he would have imagined when he took the gamble to work in Romania.

Neil Lennon is on verge of Dunfermline Athletic job

But now the 53-year-old is heading back home to Scotland to work and, according to the Daily Record, he is on the verge of landing the role at Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Championship.

The Pars are in a bit of a precarious position in the second tier as they sit second bottom of the division despite spending a decent sum of cash in trying to catapult themselves up the division and possibly into a playoff spot.

That will likely be Lennon’s target as opposed to the more negative slant of attempting to avoid relegation with a dogfight against Airdrieonians at the foot of the table.

Dunfermline sacked ex-Celtic kid Michael Tidser after 11 games

Lennon is being lined up to replace another manager who has links to Celtic Park in the form of Michael Tidser.

The ex-Greenock Morton midfielder spent his youth career at Celtic before moving on to have a decent playing career. He would then move to Kelty Hearts as their manager before Dunfermline brought him to East End Park.

Unfortunately for the 35-year-old it wouldn’t work out for him and he was sacked after just 11 games and two months or so in total at the helm.

Lennon is believed to have been offered what is described as a “bumper deal” following a takeover at the club.
