Celtic have the chance to win the first piece of silverware this season on Sunday.
Preparation is now complete and the time is here for Celtic and Rangers to meet again, this time in the League Cup final at Hampden.
In October, Celtic beat Rangers 3-0 in the Premiership and many will be looking for a repeat in this showpiece event.
The tail of the tape is pretty clear. The champions have, once again, been far superior to their rivals and have made an unbeaten start to the campaign.
In fact, when you include Champions League matches, the Bhoys have only been beaten once, so it is going to take a lot to stop this team from roaring again.
Both teams also played in Europe in midweek – Celtic drew 0-0 with Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and Rangers drew with Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham in the Europa League.
Neil McCann backs Celtic to beat Rangers in League Cup final
Celtic have had an extra few days to prepare, so you wonder what effect, if any, that will have on the match, but still expect a fast, aggressive and cagey tempo to the match.
Neil McCann is pretty clear and he sees Celtic as ‘heavy favourites’ and described how they have looked ‘irresistible’ this season, as he told Football Focus.
As a result, McCann thinks it’s going to be Rodgers lifting yet another trophy in Glasgow.
“It’s a tough one to pick,” said McCann. “I think Celtic are heavy favourites. Philippe Clement hasn’t enjoyed a victory against Celtic yet, but what a chance for him to break that duck.
“Obviously, Rangers are the holders going to Hampden of that trophy. But Rangers have struggled with consistency a wee bit. I think the result against Spurs in midweek should give them confidence.
“I felt this was probably their best performance of the season. They will need to replicate that against Celtic because they are in irresistible form right now, so it’s very hard to put my finger on it. I am not to sit on the fence, but I think Celtic will come out on top.”

Philippe Clement’s record as Rangers manager against Celtic
Whether it’s his first spell or his second, Rodgers has seen through many Rangers managers during his time in the dugout.
Win here again and you sense Philippe Clement might be another one to bite the dust.
As posted by Transfermarkt, the Rangers boss, bar one match, has done nothing but taste defeat after defeat against Celtic.
