Everyone’s talking about Celtic’s transfer business at the moment.
With results faltering amid a disappointing Transfer Deadline Day and key targets moving elsewhere, all the focus seems to be on off-pitch procedure affecting Celtic’s performances on the pitch.
For Brendan Rodgers, a high-profile striker addition was the main priority, especially given the sudden departure of Adam Idah from the squad.
Down south, the talk has all been around Alexander Isak, after his record-breaking move from Newcastle to Liverpool – how this Celtic side could use a striker with half of his quality.
For one legendary English manager, Isak’s quality reminds him of a former Celtic striker – and it probably isn’t who you think.

Former Celtic man Tommy Johnson shares one quality with Isak, says Neil Warnock
Tommy Johnson’s time at Celtic is mainly remembered for being plagued by injuries – but his goalscoring ability was still clear to see in his 35 league appearances across four years in Glasgow.
The striker, who arrived from Aston Villa in 1997, is remembered fondly by the Parkhead faithful. For Warnock, his finishing was reminiscent of Liverpool’s new £125m man.
When discussing Isak on TalkSport Breakfast, Warnock said: “At one of my first clubs, I had Tommy Johnson, and Tommy never had a backlift.
“You never knew he was going to shoot, so he used to score from outside the box. The goalie would look slow going down, but they never knew that it was coming. He [Isak] was the same.”
Isak will be hoping that he can make more appearances in four years at Anfield than Johnson did in four years at Celtic Park, that’s for sure.
The English striker was comparatively indispensable under Warnock at Notts County, however, and his talent is well-documented.
Celtic now dealing with injury worries of their own
With Jota out until the new year, Celtic already have a significant injury concern – and with news coming from the Scotland camp at the beginning of the international break, the list is growing.
Kieran Tierney and Anthony Ralston have both withdrawn from the Scotland squad amid injury concerns, with Steve Clarke set to replace the pair ahead of his crucial upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The former has been unable to complete 90 minutes since returning to Celtic Park from Arsenal, often being replaced by Auston Trusty to allow Liam Scales to take his place at left-back.
For Ralston, an injury picked up in the match against Kairat appears not to be going away, and could pave the way for youngster Colby Donovan to make his first senior start.
