The international break is here as Celtic enjoy a two-week break from action.

Celtic fans, however, are simmering after a disastrous transfer window and have united to send the Celtic board an open letter with seven key questions.

Supporters are demanding answers as to why the transfer window was such a failure, as well as questioning the hierarchy on what exactly the club’s strategy is.

In the meantime, international players in the Celtic squad will be gearing up to play for their countries over the next week and a bit.

But Kieran Tierney and Anthony Ralston will not be playing for Scotland.

Tierney and Anthony Ralston out of Scotland squad

Scotland kick off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday night with a tricky away tie against Denmark.

They will then face Belarus away next week in the hope they can register points on the board early on the road to the USA, Canada and Mexico.

But manager Steve Clarke will be without Tierney and Ralston, with the Scotland national team officially confirming the pair have withdrawn from the squad.

Josh Doig has come in to replace Tierney, while a replacement for Ralston has not been named as of yet.

It’s unclear exactly why the Celtic full-backs have left the camp, but we can only assume it is injury or fitness related.

Tierney has missed 10 Scotland games since Euro 2024

Since the 4-0 defeat to the Netherlands in March 2024, Tierney has missed eight Scotland games. That will now rise to 10 after Denmark and Belarus.

His serious hamstring injury picked up against Switzerland at Euro 2024 ruled him out of the final game of the tournament and then almost the entirety of the UEFA Nations League campaign.

Tierney managed to play both games versus Greece as Scotland lost the promotion/relegation play-off 3-1 on aggregate, before featuring for 68 minutes against Iceland in June.
