Neil Warnock has given Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna some strong advice about taking the Celtic manager’s job.
Warnock was the manager of Aberdeen for a period two season’s ago and has experience of managing in Scotland and watching Celtic managers come under pressure to win titles.
With McKenna being linked to Celtic this week, it appears that he is one name under consideration for the Parkhead board.
And when Warnock heard that McKenna is in the frame to become Celtic’s next manager, the former Sheffield United boss offered some strong advice for the Tractor Boys boss.

Neil Warnock prepares Kieran McKenna for Celtic ‘scrutiny’
McKenna has never managed a club like Celtic before and Warnock warns the Ipswich boss to prepare to come under the intense spotlight should he make the Parkhead switch.
Warnock said on talkSPORT, “I just think up there, until you get there, you don’t realise the scrutiny of those top two teams. And so it’ll it’ll be interesting to see who Celtic will appoint.”
Brazil: “I was going to say, Neil, what would you do if you are McKenna Ipswich, and you were offered that job?
“Would you take the chance, or would you stay with Ipswich, who has been brilliant, unfortunately?”
Warnock: “I think I would now take it now, because I don’t think Ipswich is a force that they were, and I don’t think they’re guaranteed to go straight back up.”
Warnock’s tells Kieran McKenna to take Celtic job after his experience with Notts County
McKenna was linked to Celtic back in 2023 but missed out to Brendan Rodgers. And Warnock has told the young manager that should the chance come, he must take it this time around.
Warnock contined, “He’s been there a few years. I remember when I was in Notts County, I took them two divisions up to the top flight, Notts County.
“In the top flight, I got offered the Chelsea job and I stayed loyal Notts County, and six months later, I got the sack.
“Hey, listen, it’s hard work and Kieran has a lot of friends and people there, a lot of emotions come into it.
“But if he’s offered the Celtic job, bloody hell, he should take that straight away.”
How close McKenna is to getting the Celtic gig is anyone’s gues but it’s pretty clear that Warnock believes the Ipswich man would be a fool not to grab the opportunity to manage the Glasgow giants, if it comes around.
