Even though it is international week, Celtic fans still have a lot to look forward to when the real football resumes in two weeks’ time.
Celtic’s fixtures see a tough away trip to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership as Brendan Rodgers looks to keep his unbeaten domestic start to the season going.
The Champions League is next with Club Brugges preparing to face a Celtic side still flying high after battering RB Leipzig two weeks ago.
Then after that, Celtic have the League Cup final against Rangers to come and when an Ibrox supporter tells Barry Ferguson he is worried about a Hampden mauling, the reaction from the former captain is priceless.
Barry Ferguson worried about Celtic with Rangers ‘wasteful and sloppy’
A Rangers fan called Go Radio and said that playing Celtic gives him the fear of getting ‘four or five’ goals knocked past his team and predicts if James Tavernier starts, he will be ‘ripped apart’ by Daizen Maeda.
Ferguson told The Go Radio Football Show, “You want to see them kick on and get the second and third goal and then put Hearts to bed, but then it just kind of falls away in the second half, they become really wasteful and sloppy.
“They looked a bit nervy at times and obviously the fans are getting a bit twitchy and the stands so it has to be better.
“Going forward I said that the problem they’ve got I thought Rangers need to have at least a level of consistency.
“I think they played better in Europe. But if teams come and sit behind and be really solid and compact, Rangers do struggle at times.”
Barry Ferguson says Rangers are ‘in trouble’ if they don’t ‘suffocate’ Celtic hero Daizen Maeda
“For me, the most important game is the cup final,” said Ferguson, “Every game is important, but that is a game that Rangers have to win. They have to.
“So it’ll be interesting that you see the team that plays against Tottenham. I would have a different team that plays against Celtic.
“You need to be going there as fresh as possible, 100% ready to lift that cup.
“He’s been a thorn in Rangers’ side over the last number of years. He is one player that you can’t give an inch, Maeda.
“You need to suffocate him. If you don’t suffocate him, you’re in trouble.”
Rangers have been on the end of seriously embarrassing scorelines at the hand of Brendan Rodgers and there is every chance this fan’s prediction could come true at Hampden.
However, the Celtic boss is unlikely to take heed of any outside noise and will prepare the team as he always does.
One thing is for sure, if Celtic turn up and play the way they did against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, there is every chance that the final could be humiliating for the Ibrox club.
